Prepare For Awesomeness

KF PandaFinally a summer blockbuster movie for the kiddies! Wait… It’s for adults too?! Seriously?! Awesome! Kung Fu fanboys get another serving of glorious fight scenes and lots of martial arts; but this time, it’s more vibrant, colorful and hilarious! A familiar story with a great new package, Dreamworks brings forth pandemonium with “Kung Fu Panda!”

I love seeing the more rounded characters get into the spotlight for something other than being spherical. As goes my adapted pseudo-dictum, “I’m in shape! Round is a shape!” Though its story is almost like anything you would expect from a family oriented cartoon movie, the movie delivers it with much gusto and action that it all seems new!  I adore the coolness and “Bodacity” of this movie. Filled with high kicks, swift punches and talking animals, “Kung Fu Panda” is pure awesome! And…as the movie states… There is no charge for awesomeness!”

Disclaimer: The word “awesome” will be used excessively!

A Person’s A Person, No Matter How Small

There is a general opinion that the two live action movie adaptations of Dr. Seuss’s books fall short and do not achieve the atmosphere the books create. I grew up without any real exposure to Dr. Seuss’s work, so I got to appreciate “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Cat in the Hat” purely off their film viewing merits. And I must honestly say I didn’t completely dislike them. Jim Carrey was excellent as the Grinch but I can’t say the same for the rest of the actors. As for Mike Myers portraying The Cat, he was off-putting but the movie was entertaining all the same (ironically, thanks to the rest of the actors).

Since then, the wife of Dr. Seuss was quoted saying her husband’s work will never be adapted in live action films. Thanks to advanced technology in animation nowadays, we who are still getting to know these great stories are given a chance still to appreciate them and see them come to life through the silver screen. Another great story from the wonderful author, Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who!

Anyone Can Cook!

Ratatouille PosterI am so happy Pixar’s latest offering in feature films is very entertaining with an appealing story. After the dissatisfying movie Cars, no one could guarantee Pixar could match the success and brilliance of The Incredibles. But thanks to Brad Bird, (the same director and writer of Incredibles) their latest movie, RATATOUILLE didn’t disappoint.

Better tell Brad Bird to make some room on his awards cabinet because this movie will surely bag him another of those golden statues. Mr. Bird is an outstanding animation director and writer. His latest creation, Ratatouille is possibly one of the finest animated films in Pixar’s arsenal. I came into the movie expecting a good movie, I was delightfully wrong…It was great!
